Philosophy
One Heart Way Christian Karate’ is a traditional Japanese karate’ school or dojo. However, our dojo seeks to integrate the disciplines of Okinawan karate’ with a commitment to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Our dojo promotes students in Isshinryu karate’. Yet, like the founder of Isshinryu, Tatsuo Shimabuku, our Sensei Darryl Hall combines the best from other styles in his teaching.

One Heart Way Christian Karate’ is a ministry of Lifewell Church and Sensei Darryl Hall, a black belt in the Isshinryu style of Okinawan karate’. Sensei has been involved in karate’ for more than 40 years and has taught for over 30. In addition to Isshinryu Sensei has studied Chinese Kenpo, Shotokan, Tae Kwon Do, Jiu Jitsu and Judo. He has received personal instruction from karate’ greats: Ed Parker, Tomas Conner and Richard Adler. Sensei’s instructor has taught such UFC greats as Don Frye and Dan Severn and Mark Coleman.

Requirements
- Willingness to commit to self-discipline
- Consistent attendance at all practices.
- Gentleness will be shown at all times. Students will be self-controlled, and seek peace with everyone.
- All students will memorize scripture from the Christian Bible.
- CAN’T is considered obscenity at One Heart Way Dojo. A positive attitude will be displayed by students at all times. Everyone is expected to do her/his best. Nothing less will be acceptable.
- Contribution. Each student will determine what contribution they will make to the club for their training, whether in service or agreed upon dues. Contributing members of Lifewell Church are not expected to pay anything, but should lead the way in serving.

One Heart Way Dojo.
- Fighting. Students are expected to abhor violence and flee conflict. "Karate' ni sente nashi." means there is no first strike in karate'.
- Substance abuse. Students will not use illegal drugs or abuse legal medication.
- No Pass No Practice. If in school, a student’s progress reports must be presented regularly to demonstrate that he/she is maintaining no less than a 70 in each subject. Failing grades may be cause for suspension until grades are brought to a passing level. No student should settle for passing. If it is determined that a student would perform better in school as the result of a suspension of karate’ practice, then it will be discussed with parents and implemented for as long as is needed to encourage disciplined study habits.
- Disobedience or disrespect for authority, in or out of the dojo.
- Obscenity or profanity, in or out of the dojo.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct.
